The old one was pretty smashed, presumably from the same accident that bashed up the right rear panel (the previous owner covered up the damage there with some fancy black-and-white-striped duct tape, and so far I've been afraid to pull it all off to see what's underneath. All in good time.)
It seemed like it was going to be a pretty straightforward repair: remove the bolts, pull off the old bumper, and slap the new one on with some shiny new hardware. Of course it turned out that the old bolts were rusted out and stripped. And the right mount was bent, so the bolt holes on the new bumper didn't line up quite right. It took a couple of hours, a mallet, a prybar, some heavy-duty vice grips and help from two of my neighbors to yank everything more or less back into place.
But damn, look at that new bumper, right?
